1. One of the central conflicts in this chapter is between Hilly and Skeeter. Using examples from the text, describe Hilly and Skeeter’s relationship. Then write about something similar (betrayal, growing apart, or disagreement) that you have experienced with a friend.

Hilly and Skeeter are best friends in the novel called “The Help“.  They are different from each other in so many ways.  Hilly has very controlling personality and she feels color of your skin determines how superior you are. For example, she wanted to pass a bill that required all white homes to build a separate bathroom for colored people. Skeeter does not agree with her and she threats her to terminate from the league. Then on the other hand Hilly tries to set Skeeter on a blind date with her friend because she does not want her to end up alone, after all they did grew up together.
Skeeter is a completely opposite person then Hilly. She is very down to earth and most importantly not racist. In fact she wants to change the society and help the colored people. She starts working for local news paper where she writes about cleaning tips, that’s where she begins interviewing Aibleen. She gets very attached to her because Aibleen reminds her of Constantine who took care of her when she was little. She never forgot Constantine because she left without meeting her. Since she came back from college she tries to get in touch with her but no one tells her anything.
I was in seventh grade when I first met my best ex-friend. She had just come from India and didn’t spoke English very well. I was appointed by my teacher to help her to show around the school. We both spoke the same native language but the only thing that separated us was our religion. Then later on she moved to different school because her parents decided to buy house in Waltham, where she met her boyfriend who was same religion as I am, I my self was also in a relationship but he was same religion as I was. We all got along very well, until one day my friend boyfriend tells me that we shouldn’t talk that much with each other because she thinks there something going on among us. My heart ached so much that I never had a best friend from that day on. My friend was such coward that she never confirmed me about it and I never question her either. We just grew apart. Today she and I are both married with kids and often do run in with each other, exchange few words and smile but the ache in my heart never went away.
